Yousra El Lozy

Yosra El-Lozy is a multi-talented Egyptian artist who has run the performance gamut, working as a ballerina, pianist, and voice actor before settling into acting as a profession. She started her cinematic journey in 2004 with renowned international director Youssef Chahine, starring in his film ALEXANDRIA... NEW YORK. Since then, she has emerged as the leading actress in numerous projects helmed by several esteemed directors, effortlessly straddling the worlds of film and drama as she weaves a tapestry of mesmerizing performances. Hailing from an artistic family, with her father working as a theatrical director, actor, and distinguished professor of theater at the American University in Cairo (AUC) and her mother having an established name in the puppet theater and voice acting industries - even working for Disney at some point - it is no surprise that El-Lozy eventually followed in her parents' footsteps. She started off her career when she was a high school student, initially cutting her teeth by working as a voice actor on several animated Disney films before expanding her skillset once she got into the AUC - where she pursued a bachelor of arts in political science and then supplemented it with a master's degree in public and international law - appearing in a variety of musical roles at the university's theater; most notably, SULEIMAN AL-HALABI, THE READER, GUYS AND DOLLS, and THE CONFUSED SULTAN. Eventually, El-Lozy made her dazzling debut on the silver screen, mesmerizing audiences with her portrayal of the spirited teenage Ginger in Youssef Chahine's masterpiece ALEXANDRIA... NEW YORK in 2004, which was featured at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain Regard that very same year. Continuing to leave an indelible mark, she also starred in David Cronenberg's TO EACH HIS OWN CINEMA, sharing the screen with American actor Josh Brolin and the iconic Brigitte Bardot. Naturally, it was only a matter of time before El-Lozy would reap the rewards of her blossoming career, eventually earning a plethora of local and international accolades for her compelling performances in cinema. Her first recognition came with Khaled El-Hagar's remarkable film STOLEN KISSES in 2008, for which she garnered Best Actress at the Alexandria International Film Festival
